You Will Learn How To:
• Interact with doctors, patients, and other health profession professionals
• Apply essential administrative skills including:
• keyboarding • management and software applications
• Administer office procedures and protocols
• Work with insurance companies
• Manage collection processes and accounting including: accounts payable/receivable • budgets • payroll

 

You Will Learn How To:
• Assist with examinations and dental procedures
• Prep the room, the instruments and the patient
• Administer topical anesthetics
• Take dental impressions & dental records
• Sterilize, asepsis and disinfect
• Take, develop and mount x-rays
• Teach patients oral hygiene principles
• Use patient management software

Hawaii School of Dental Arts is located in a general dental office. For students interested in the dentistry-related professions, this unique educational setting provides them the opportunity to practice new skills in an actual work-place environment. In addition to the advantages of this hands-on learning opportunity and experience, students learn from instructors who have worked and taught many years in the field of dental assisting and dental administration. By combining reading, instruction, projects, and exercises with the actual experience of working in the HSDA dental office, students quickly acquire the skills and information necessary to find employment in their chosen dental-related profession.
